Teamwork - ‘NOBODY IS PERFECT BUT A TEAM CAN BE’

At the end of these program candidates would be able to:

  • Understand Why teams fail or succeed
  • Understand and work in a multicultural team
  • Identify the ‘team types’  and the different team roles
  • Allocate appropriate task to different people within team
  • Identify  ways to participate and lead a team (Team development)
  • Understand the causes of tension and how to deal with tensions within teams
  • Understand the various forms of communication patterns that operate within a team
  • Create conducive atmosphere for team members to get to know one another and respect each other


This programme focuses on the characteristics of an effective team player and elements of an effective team. Programme includes seminars and workshops .Participants would get to learn enough skill that would help them to design their own personal development plan as a team player. These transferable skills would help participants to play the role as team leaders and also gain some insight on how to develop the work place. The programme takes you through many stages of activities which includes:

1. Understanding the team type and their role The three team roles-Action Oriented, Cerebral Roles and People Oriented Roles are very prominent in every organisation. A lot of talents and skills can be found under each team role: talents and skills under action role team includes:
  • The shaper- a leader, outgoing, dynamic, and charismatic
  • The implementer- conservative, dutiful, predictable
  • The completer-finisher, quality assurer, anxious, orderly etc.


2. Identify the advantages and disadvantage diversity in multicultural team:

  •  Lack of cohesion- This can arise as a result of mistrust, miscommunication and stress
  • Lack of cohesion causes an inability to-validate ideas and people, agree when agreement is needed, gain consensus on decision etc.
  • Multicultural forces would enhance concentration to understand others ideas, perspective, meaning and arguments.
  • Multicultural forces also permit increased creativity


3. Identify the effects of certain communication patterns on group performance. Many communication channels had been identified that are suitable in different situations and enhances group performance:

  •  LParticipants would understand the different communication channels e.g. Wheel, chain, Circle common etc.
  • Identify best pattern that would enhance on group performance
  • Learn to eliminate certain attitudes during communication process
  • Identify cultural characteristics and differences for effective communication within a team
  • Differentiate between explicit and implicit messages as a result of different cultural context


4. Participants would understand how team works  and learn to resolve tension under various situations:

  • Tolerating uncertainty- whether it is an opportunity, challenge or just baffling
  • Dealing with embarrassment or loss of face
  • Understanding gender issues and behavioural codes
  • Learn to deal with task demands, team and individual demands
  • Practice confrontation avoidance
  • Identify individualism Vs. Collectivism
